Kids snow

A Snowy Weekend

This past weekend, it snowed in South Carolina. In December! That never happens. We knew there was a possibility of snow, but certainly did not get our hopes up. Then sure enough, big snow flakes started falling on Friday afternoon. All three of us kept looking out the windows to see just how much snow was coming down. Before we knew it, there was a blanket of white covering our yard, and the kids could hardly contain their excitement. Corey came home from work early and we bundled up (as well as we can; we are not very well prepared for snow around here) and fully embraced the winter wonderland outside.

Colette thoroughly enjoyed the snow for about 15 minutes and then insisted we go back inside. Her hat kept falling in her eyes, her gloves were soaked, and her little nose was nearly frozen. So she and I headed in for some hot chocolate and snuggles on the couch.

Cullen stayed outside until it began to get dark. No matter how cold or wet he got. He did change his hat and gloves once, but ran right back out. No one was safe from his snowballs, and I think he ran over every inch of the yard. Seeing that smile on his face nearly made me forget about how cold it actually was.

It snowed all night and the biggest snowflakes were still falling when we woke up on Saturday. Cullen woke me up with his hat in hand asking to go play in the snow again. So while the other two slept, he and I went for a quick walk in the snow.

While not technically a White Christmas, it was closer than we could ever hope to get. With all of the Christmas trees and lights, this snow was truly magical.
