Baby #2 DIY Home Decor Nursery

Nursery Reveal

I am so excited to finally share pictures of our little girl’s nursery! I feel like we have been working on this room for the entire pregnancy, but it is now complete. And only two days before her arrival! I may add a few other things later, like a crib skirt and maybe some more art to her gallery wall, but for now, we are done.
I have been planning this room since before we even knew we were having a girl, and I love the way it turned out. I am in love with every piece in this room!

Baby #2: 37 Weeks

baby’s size: Winter Melon (Last Thursday she weighed about 4 lb, 2 oz.)

how I’m feeling: Finally really ready to have this baby! The nursery is decorated, the baby clothes are washed and put away, and the house is almost cleaned. I feel like everything is in just about in place and I can finally focus on bringing home another little one.

best moment this week: It has been a pretty low key week. It’s great to finally have the nursery done, Cullen is doing well sleeping in his own bed, and we have spent a lot of time just hanging out as a family.

what I’m looking forward to: We have a c-section scheduled for later this week. I can’t believe we are so close to meeting our little girl! I am so looking forward to seeing her sweet face and holder her in my arms!!!

Baby #2: 36 Weeks

baby’s size: Honeydew

how I’m feeling: Exhausted! We are are on week two of trying to get Cullen to sleep in his big boy bed and he has yet to sleep a full night. So that mixed with third trimester exhaustion make for one very tired pregnant lady.

best moment this week: I think it’s a tie between my baby shower on Saturday and my doctor appointment last Thursday. Out little girl was doing so well they decided I could wait another week before having her! I am so happy to let her have more time to grow!

what I’m looking forward to: Meeting this little girl! We are so close to being a family of four, and I can’t wait to hold this sweet little girl in my arms!

Finger Painting Nursery Art

To help Cullen get excited about his little sister that will be here any day now and to help him feel like he is a part of all of the excitement, I thought it would be wonderful to have him paint something to hang in the nursery.
We gathered our supplies (canvas panel, acrylic paint, paper plates, wipes) and headed outside to let Cullen get a little creative. We just put a little of each color on a paper plate and let Cullen finger paint until he was happy with his finished work of art. (Baby wipes were great for getting the paint off of his fingers between colors.)

He had so much fun with this little craft! I can’t wait to hang it in the new nursery and see his face beam with pride when he sees it framed!

Maternity Pictures

We don’t have a lot of pictures taken professionally, I usally just do them myself for Christmas cards and such. But I love having maternity and newborn pictures taken by an expert. I love having beautiful pictures of our family as it changes. A couple of weeks ago we had Elizabeth Testa take some maternity pictures for us. We had such a great time catching up with her and exploring our local nature park while she captured some great moments. I love each and every one of the pictures we got and wanted to share a few of our favorites with you.

I can’t wait to frame a few of these as I, finally, start hanging some photos around our house!

Baby #2: 35 Weeks

baby’s size: Coconut. At the ultrasound last Thursday, she weighed about 3 lbs 7 oz.

how I’m feeling: Ready to meet this little girl! I’m still a little nervous about what it will actually be like to have such a small baby, but after so many ultrasounds and doctor appointments (and so long being stuck resting at home) I am ready to hold this little one!

best moment this week: Our Easter Weekend was pretty awesome!

what I’m looking forward to: Having this little girl! We are only about a week away from being a family of four!

Easter Holidays

Easter Weekend

Since things are a little crazy around here these days, we didn’t get to enjoy all of the usual Easter traditions like dying eggs. And the Easter Bunny may have forgotten to put candy in Cullen’s basket. (Oops!) But overall, we had a pretty great weekend!

Saturday morning, we took Cullen to our Church for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. He road a train, jumped in bounce houses, made some crafts, hunted eggs, and of course had a blast!

Sunday morning, Cullen woke up to see what the Easter Bunny left in his basket. This year, his basket was filled with a new book, everything needed to catch bugs this summer, a bunny shirt and a grass growing kit. He went straight for the bugs and completely ignored everything else. But he has played with those bugs non-stop since then, so I’d say the Easter Bunny did pretty well this year.

Then we headed off to church in our matching outfits. I think my two boys looked pretty great in their matching ties.

After church, we joined grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins for a yummy Easter lunch and another egg hunt. Since Cullen is so much younger than all of the other kids, he had his own area to hunt eggs and he took full advantage of it. He took his time and opened every egg as he picked them up. Money went right into his pocket and candy was thrown on the ground. It was pretty hilarious to watch.

After lunch and the egg hunt, we went to Corey’s parents just to hang out and relax. And the boys worked off all of the Easter candy they ate with a game of backyard baseball. Cullen even hit the ball once without any help. It was so cute to see him so proud of himself!

It really was a great weekend getting to spend so much time with family and watching Cullen explore and enjoy this wonderful holiday!

Baby #2: 34 Weeks

baby’s size: Butternut Squash? We have another ultrasound tomorrow to see just how much this little girl has grown.

how I’m feeling: A little exhausted and huge. I don’t remember ever feeling this huge with Cullen even though I was actually much bigger! And the fact that I’m back to not being able to sleep at night, I am always tired.

best moment this week: We had a blast having maternity pictures taken on Sunday. I can’t wait to show you some of them next week!

what I’m looking forward to: Easter weekend! I am so excited to see Cullen hunt eggs again, especially after how much fun he had last year!

Baby #2 Weekly Update

Baby #2: 33 Weeks

baby’s size: Durian? Well, maybe a small one. At the ultrasound last Thursday, she weighed 2 lb 13 oz.

how I’m feeling: A little anxious about what could be happening over the next week. I have another appointment tomorrow and if things aren’t looking perfect with our little girl, I will most likely have to go to the hospital for steroids and early delivery of this little girl. At this point, they are not going to let me go past 36 weeks but are hoping to make it to at least 34 weeks. That gives us at most only three weeks before we have a new baby. I know everything will work out just fine and God has a plan, but the unknown, everything we have left to do, and the worry that comes with premature delivery has me a little nervous.

best moment this week: Cullen went with me to the ultrasound last week and for the hour or so leading up to the appointment, he kept saying “We going to hospital to get the new baby!” As much as I tried to explain it, I couldn’t get him to understand that we were only going to see pictures of the baby. But it was so sweet how excited he was!

what I’m looking forward to: We had to move our maternity pictures to this coming weekend because of the weather. I’m hoping I won’t end up in the hospital and we can still make those happen!

Baby #2: 32 Weeks

baby’s size: jicama? I have another ultrasound tomorrow to see how much she has grown over the past two weeks, but she is still tiny compared to other babies at this point.

how I’m feeling: Ready to meet this little girl! The braxton hicks have started, which is not always so much fun, and I am beyond ready to be able to do more than sit on the couch all day. But we have so much left to do to get ready for her arrival. So for the next (hopefully at least) five weeks, we will be busy getting things put together and organized and soaking up as much time with Cullen before he is not the only child.

best moment this week: The weather has been absolutely gorgeous the past few days. I have loved the chance to sit outside and soak up some sun and fresh air while Cullen runs around the yard like every two-year-old loves to do.

what I’m looking forward to: We are having maternity pictures taken this weekend. I’m hoping the weather cooperates and we can get some great family photos!
