Baby #2 Weekly Update

Baby #2: 31 Weeks

baby’s size: Pineapple

how I’m feeling: The urge to nest has really hit me this week! I stay up way too late planning and working different projects (all of which could wait until morning), but I can’t seem to turn my mind off. I feel like there is so much to do in so little time.

best moment this week: We had another ultrasound this week and found out our little girl has jumped from the 10th percentile to the 11th percentile! (Okay, so that may not really be a big jump, but it’s huge for us!) And we saw a lot of hair…like 2 cm long, which is apparently a lot for this point because our ultrasound tech was showing off her hair to everyone else in the office. It was such a fun visit!

what I’m looking forward to: Spring weather! I am running out of clothes that fit, so I am looking forward to being able to wear spring dresses and sandals all the time. And I am definitely excited about days spent outside with Cullen, he is the happiest when he is running circles in the back yard.

Baby #2: 30 Weeks

baby’s size: Cucumber? (I don’t really trust this one, I have never seen a cucumber as big as my baby is supposed to be.)

how I’m feeling: The aches and pains of the third trimester have started. My hips hurt at the end of the day and I’ve got the normal discomforts that come with a growing and stretching belly. I’m taking that as a good sign that our little one is growing and slathering on lotion like it’s my job.

best moment this week: If you follow me on Instagram, you have already seen this, but the other day Cullen took his toy tape measure and asked to measure my belly then proudly proclaimed that it was 14 inches! It was one of the cutest things he has ever done and probably the first time he as acknowledge that there might be something different about me. I can’t wait to see his reaction to his baby sister!

what I’m looking forward to: The next 7 weeks. Yep, we only have 7 more weeks at the most before we get to meet our little girl. I am looking forward to everything we still have coming in these next few weeks; showers, more doctors appointments, washing tiny baby clothes, packing hospital bags, and everything else that comes with prepping for a new little one.

Baby #2 Home Decor Nursery

Nursery Inspiration

Since we have started getting the nursery ready for our little girl, I figured it was about time I share some of my plans for the room. The room doesn’t really have a theme, I just found a fabric that I love and went from there.

fabric | light | foot stool (old from Target) | throw | ostrich

I wanted a room that was feminine without being too juvenile; something that can grow with her. Unlike the rest of my house, most of the nursery walls will be white with one navy accent wall and a mint closet. We are using the white Jenny Lind crib that Cullen used and will paint the other furniture coral.

I am planning on making the curtains, quilt, mobile, and other decor for the room. I’m still finding pieces for the room as we go, so I won’t really have a final vision for the room until it’s almost done. You can find more of my inspiration on Pinterest.

I can’t wait to share the completed room with you! Hopefully we can get it done before our little girl joins us!

Baby #2 Weekly Update

Baby #2: 29 Weeks

baby’s size: Acorn Squash

how I’m feeling: Great! Resting as much as possible and enjoying the sweet movements of our little girl. I am finally feeling those large rolling movements that move my entire stomach. As painful as they can be sometimes, I love seeing and feeling the reminder that our little girl is doing great!

best moment this week: We started painting the nursery this week and Cullen joined right in. He picked up a small roller and pretended to paint the walls right along with everyone else. He called the paint roller a “casserole” and was just about the cutest thing ever! Having him so excited to help us get ready for his little sister made me even more excited to see him turn into a big brother!

what I’m looking forward to: It really hit me this week that we will be a family of four in just about two months! I am looking forward to soaking up this time with Cullen and getting everything ready for bringing home another little one.

Baby #2 Weekly Update

Baby #2: 28 Weeks

baby’s size: Eggplant

how I’m feeling: Excited to officially be in the third trimester!

best moment this week: It was another low-key week for us. I’m at home resting as much as possible so other than getting ready for another little one, not much is going on.

what I’m looking forward to: More baby preparations. I think we are finally going to start painting and putting together the nursery this week!

Baby #2 Weekly Update

Baby #2: 27 Weeks

baby’s size: Rutabaga? At my last ultrasound, the baby weighed 1 pound 4 ounces.

how I’m feeling: Pretty much the same as last week. I have been at home from work for two whole days now. I’m just trying to do as little as possible and hope this little girl keeps growing!

best moment this week: Although I got the news that I would need to be out of work until after the baby is here, it would have to be the ultrasound. I hate the reason I have to have so many ultrasounds, but I love getting to see our little girl!

what I’m looking forward to: Nesting! (Or at least as much as I’m able to do.) I’ve got some pretty little girl clothes to get washed and ready for our little one and lots to still do in the nursery! I am so excited to see everything come together!

Birthdays

A Dinosaur Birthday Party

A couple of weeks ago, we had friends and family over to celebrate Cullen’s 2nd birthday dinosaur style. Our little two-a-saurus had a blast!
Much like last year, when our guests came in, we asked them to sign a book with a little message for Cullen. When they left, we sent them off with a favor of dino crayons and mini dinosaurs.

We decorated with tissue paper tassel garland and paper garlands that I put together and spray painted plastic dinosaurs. Our dinosaur themed food included Herbivore Food (fruit, veggies and dip, 7-layer dip and chips), Carnivore Food (meatballs, dinosaur shaped sandwiches, dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets), and cupcakes.

By far, the best part of the party was when we sang Happy Birthday to Cullen. Before we could even start the song, he sang it to himself. Several times. Hilarious! After a few tries and a little help from his Daddy, Cullen blew out his candles, we got to enjoy this super simple (and super yummy!) vanilla cake.

Cullen, I still cannot believe that you are already two years old. I love the little boy you are becoming. You are smart and funny and always find a way to make us laugh! I am so glad God has blessed us with such a sweet little boy. I can’t wait to watch you grow and see what He has planned for you. Happy 2nd Birthday, Cullen!!!
Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate! It was a great party and Cullen had a blast!!!
Baby #2 Weekly Update

Baby #2: 26 Weeks

baby’s size: Head of Lettuce

how I’m feeling: Most days, my hips are sore after a day of having to sit and do a whole not of nothing (Doctor’s orders.) And I’m still a little tired like last week, but other than that I don’t really have any complaints.

best moment this week: Cullen had a high fever most of the week, so it was actually pretty rough for all of us. But I am happy to report that he is feeling much better. In pregnancy related news, our little girl is moving lots and seems to get stronger every week. Feeling those strong movements are very reassuring, especially considering the concern over her small size.

what I’m looking forward to: More nursery prep and another ultrasound to make sure our little girl is still growing well!

Baby #2 Weekly Update

Baby #2: 25 Weeks

baby’s size: Cauliflower!

how I’m feeling: Tired! You’re supposed to have more energy in the second trimester right? I guess because our little girl is so small, my body is using all of my energy to grow her. Which I am grateful for. I can tell she is growing: my belly is growing and her kicks have gotten a lot stronger and more consistent. But I am definitely missing that energy I remember having with Cullen.

best moment this week: Cullen’s birthday party. He had the best time with his friends and family. I loved getting to celebrate him!

what I’m looking forward to: Getting our little girl’s nursery ready! We are finally at a point where we can start prepping for her arrival and am thrilled!

Cullen’s First Haircut

Yesterday, at just over two years old, Cullen got his first haircut. I pushed it off as long as possible. I didn’t want to cut those sweet little curls, but at this point, he basically had a mullet. His bangs were constantly in his eyes, and I couldn’t put it off any longer. I feel like this was the last step in turning him into a little boy. Having not had a haircut yet, it still felt like he was my little baby. Now he seems so grown up.

Cullen truly had the best time. He let the stylist shampoo his hair, was all smiles the whole time she was cutting his hair, and cheesed it up for a mid-cut mohawk. I think he would have stayed there all night if he could just keep playing in the car and flirting with the stylists.

For being so wonderful, he got to take home a balloon and some jelly beans. And I think he is pretty proud of his new look. I am pretty proud of this handsome little boy too!
